"Saturday 27 December 2008. The Tuggernaong
Vikings Basketball club
boys came to the game excited as ABT ot only organised our tickets
to the Bucks v Detroit at short notice but also early entry to sit
courtside and watch the players shoot around before the game. Amazing
how big they really are when you get up close.
Imagine the look on a few faces when I asked the team to return
to the court level About 5 minutes before halftime.
Once downstairs the Bucks representative explained that
we were going to be allowed in the players tunnel as they departed
the court for half time and then
sitting on the Team's bench for the halftime entertainment!!
The excitement level hit the roof and the experience.. what a way
to kick off our tour!
We certainly were going home as happy campers after that but then
after the game we were again allowed to take the team downstairs
to meet Milwaukee Bucks and Australian player Andrew Bogut. Probably
because we'd already been courtside twice in the evening the boys
didn't seem too excited at first but once they met Andrew and started
to talk to him they realised & the experience seemed to hit
home.
Andrew was great, he was keen to find out how we played so far,
how we found the food (he said he is missing a
Hamburger with the lot the most from a good Australian takeaway)
and
signed autographs for all the guys. He also talked to the guys about
the game (Milwaukee lost by 11 87 to 76 however Andrew played quite
well going for 17 pts and 10 rebs).
While we certainly thanked him while we were there, we'd like to
again thank Boges, Dave Greenberg & Aussie Basketball Travellers
plus the Milwaukee Bucks organisation. OH.. almost forgot to mention
we were also allowed to shoot a free throw on the court after the
game!!
